About Chris

After graduating with a B.Sc. at Portsmouth in the early 70’s I became involved in health care by training as a general nurse at St. George’s Hospital in South London. In 1974, shortly after qualifying, my husband and I decided to move to the Highlands. I worked for a short while as a Staff Nurse in the Ross Memorial Hospital in Dingwall and then became practice nurse for the Strathpeffer Medical Practice. With a gap for child raising I happily kept this position until 2005.

I had always been interested in complementary therapies and in the early 1990’s discovered shiatsu, by chance. I immediately felt attracted to this therapy which to my mind incorporated aspects of yoga, healing and acupuncture. After a rigorous 3 years training starting in 1992 I qualified as a shiatsu practitioner, and since finishing work with the NHS this has been my full time occupation. To this I added a qualification in spinal touch in 2005.

An aspect of my work reflects my long term interest in dietary and nutritional issues, and I would suggest particular changes if I felt that these were relevant.

I feel very grateful that I have so much enjoyed every part of my working life, most especially my current work as a therapist. Every person that I treat teaches me something new and it is this aspect of my work that I find so inspiring.
